Friday of the Second Week of Lent

VIEW TODAY'S READINGS

In today's reading, Joseph is subjected to some of the worst experiences that a human can go through. His own brothers plot to kill him and, at the very end, his life is spared, yet he is sold into slavery for 20 pieces of silver. The temptation of Israel’s sons to kill their brother and the suffering that Joseph faced is very reminiscent to Jesus’ trip in the desert and the temptation he faced at the hands of the Devil. As we navigate the waters of human life, we encounter temptation and suffering each day. These encounters add stress, pain and worry to each of our lives. A guiding light through the darkness that many of us face each day is to remember our Responsorial Psalm from today… Remember the marvels the Lord has done.

It is truly important to remember that the Lord is with us each and every day, and he provides us with what we need. He delivered Joseph from his suffering and guided him to become the Vizier of Egypt and save the land from famine. This story truly shows the divine power of the Lord and what he does for his children. All we must do is keep our faith in the Lord and consistently remember his place in our lives. I ask each and everyone of you to reflect today on the marvels the Lord has done in your life and the places you have ended up due to his grace.
