Tuesday of the Third Week of Advent

| TODAY'S READINGS

What keeps you going as you anticipate the nativity of Jesus? As I reflect on today’s Responsorial Psalm, the notion of anticipation, hope, rebirth continues to resonate with me. For me, the Advent season is a time of the year to reflect, to take stock of my emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. How often do we take a moment to check in with ourselves and acknowledge how we are feeling? How often do we still hold onto the notion of hope during challenging times? While we continue to experience many ongoing challenges such as racial inequality, the mental health crisis, and the ongoing struggles of dealing with the pandemic, we also see many exciting stories of people still doing good for the world, still spreading kindness. It is these believes and hope that keep me going every day. My faith reminds me of the importance of spreading positivity and kindness. It is my calling to impact the world positively. At times, I may be stuck in the anticipation stage, wondering when positive changes will happen or if there is even an end in sight. I am okay, and I will be okay.

As Psalm 33 suggests, “Our Soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and our shield, For in him our hearts rejoice; in his holy name we trust.” The sense of hope and new beginning comes with the rebirth of Jesus Christ. It reminds us that the anticipation stage is normal. Our Lord will always be there to guide us. Our faith will carry us through tough times, knowing that the birth of Jesus Christ will bring us a new beginning and new lights.
