Tuesday of Holy Week

Before even reflecting on today’s gospel, I am always grabbed and shaken to the core of my very depth at the thought of "Holy Week".

This is a celebration of the end of “human life” and through it the gift of redemption and life everlasting was bestowed on us. Oh! how blessed we are. It is gratifying to know and remember that God loves us so much despite our shortcomings and unbelief. It gives me a better perspective of the fact that I have to, in fact I MUST live my life to be worthy and grateful for this glorifying gift that he gave me. Therefore, my question to myself during holy week is: Am I living my life as a worthy heir for HIS gift to me?

In today’s Gospel reading, there are two statements of Jesus I would like to reflect upon. One reflection is the knowledge of Christ about his death since Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “Amen, amen I say to you, one of you will betray me”.

Have we in our daily lives thought of the consequences of betraying anyone for money, wealth, position and whatsoever just to overcome our own problems? Lord, give us the strength to be able to resolve issues but not at the expense of others.

The second reflection is when Jesus said to Peter, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you the cock will not crow before you deny me three times”.

Can anyone say that Peter had no faith nor love for Jesus? NO! However, fear and weakness of our human body is more powerful than we care to admit especially with Satan at our heals making sure we fail. I beseech God to give us the strength and boldness to withstand temptations that will be costly to our spiritual existence.
