The reading tells us to listen to God and we’ll be OK, in short. But we know our relationship with God isn’t short. It cannot be skipped over or bypassed in any way; however, there are days, weeks, periods in our lives where we pause and question what God has set before us. To that end, there are days, I’m sure, when I wake up, I wish God’s instructions for the week were written on my wall, in plain sight! As if God has a giant post-it note for all of His children that we could follow daily for what we’re supposed to do but guess what? I do have that giant post-it note! The Bible is our post-it note for daily living and instruction. But then the questions come, the uncertainty…I think that’s where faith kicks in. I heard something earlier by the now late Cicely Tyson, as she read an excerpt from her book. She says, anytime I got in God’s way, interrupted what HE had planned for me, it didn’t go well, so I had to get out of God’s way and not interrupt the plans HE laid out for me, for my life. I thought about what Ms. Tyson, whom I had to honor of meeting several years ago, said and it true! We get in our own way and interrupt what God has planned. My thoughts as we approach the Lenten season, do your best to be still and listen to what God is telling you to do.
