The Sixth Day in the Octave of Christmas

In the Gospel, we see the power of the Lord when he is with us. Even as he was born, John's mother could tell that he
was destined for greatness out of the Lord's blessings. This notion was further
enhanced when John's father, Zachariah, was able to speak the word of the Lord
after his illness, which both shocked their neighbors with amazement and left them quite terrified because if even the Lord can proclaim such a
blessing by the birth of an infant, what else can he achieve with his powers? As I reflect on this in the turbulent times we are experiencing, I think we
underestimate the value of being a part of a community. Be it at St. Francis or
some other group, the power of those beside us holds a value that is an
exceptional gift these days. This value can come in many different forms, be it
economical, emotional, or even just the value of staying social; building upon
and supporting communities now more than ever holds a higher purpose. In this
season, let us not forget to check in with those in our circle and to support
one another in the best way we can afford. We never know who may be facing
internal or external pressures during these times, even a simple hello can
brighten someone's world.
